What this standard covers and how we test it
EN 301 908 is the multi-part standard for IMT user equipment - LTE and 5G NR devices. Part 1 gives the common requirements, and the band-specific parts (such as -13 and -25) set the limits that apply to each supported operating band. Both the transmitter and the receiver are measured, either at the antenna port or in the radiated field for devices with an integrated antenna.
Typical measurement set per band:
- Maximum output power, power tolerance and off-power
- Occupied bandwidth, spectrum emission mask, ACLR and spurious emissions
- EVM, frequency error and carrier leakage at the highest modulation
- Reference sensitivity and blocking characteristics of the receiver
Band combinations drive the cost: a module declared for five bands needs five measurement sets. We agree the test plan before the slot is booked so that only the worst-case carriers are measured and the report stays usable for the declaration.
We normally test EN 301 908 together with EU 2014/53/EU (RED): one sample set, one set of test dates, and a single report pack that the declaration of conformity can reference.
