EN 55032 2015
Multimedia equipment — Emission
EN 55032 — Multimedia equipment — Emission. Applies to: Consumer electronics, Wireless IoT. Effective 2015-06-01; last reviewed 2026-09-01.
Applies to
- Consumer electronics
- Wireless IoT
What this standard covers and how we test it
EN 55032 replaced EN 55013 and EN 55022 for multimedia equipment: any device that combines a broadcast receiver, an information-technology port or a display function. It is the emission half of the EMC Directive picture and splits products into Class A for industrial and Class B for residential use, with limits about 10 dB apart.
The measurements:
- Conducted emissions at the AC mains and at wired network ports
- Radiated emissions from 30 MHz to 6 GHz, including 1 GHz to 6 GHz when internal clocks exceed 108 MHz
- Asymmetric-mode disturbance on telecom ports
- Class declaration, and the warning text required for Class A products
Class is a commercial decision as much as a technical one: a Class A declaration is easier to pass but cannot be sold into residential use, and market surveillance does check whether the declared class matches the retail channel. We test to the class you actually ship in.
We normally test EN 55032 together with EU 2014/30/EU (EMC): one sample set, one set of test dates, and a single report pack that the declaration of conformity can reference.
