- Wireless IoT
What this standard covers and how we test it
EN 55035 is the immunity counterpart of EN 55032 and replaced EN 55020 and EN 55024. It uses the same port-based logic: each port is tested against the phenomena that can realistically reach it, and the result is judged against performance criteria A, B or C, which the manufacturer has to declare rather than the lab choosing after the fact.
What gets applied:
- ESD contact and air discharge at accessible parts
- Radiated RF immunity from 80 MHz to 6 GHz, and conducted RF immunity on cables
- EFT/burst, surge on AC and signal lines, and disturbances induced by RF fields
- Voltage dips, short interruptions and asymmetric disturbance on ports
Immunity problems usually surface in the field rather than in the lab, so we test the functions the user actually depends on - audio, video, data transfer - and record in the report which function was being observed while each criterion was judged.
We normally test EN 55035 together with EU 2014/30/EU (EMC): one sample set, one set of test dates, and a single report pack that the declaration of conformity can reference.
