- Wireless IoT
What this standard covers and how we test it
EN IEC 62368-1 replaced IEC 60065 and IEC 60950-1 with a single hazard-based framework: energy sources are classified first (ES1/ES2/ES3), then the safeguards must match the energy a user can actually reach. Under the Low Voltage Directive it is the harmonised route to presumption of conformity.
Our programme covers:
- Energy source classification for electrical, thermal and chemical hazards
- Temperature rise in normal operation and under single-fault conditions
- Insulation, creepage, clearance and electric strength at the declared working voltage
- Mechanical strength, openings, and battery requirements for portable equipment
Pre-production samples are enough, and the report is written so it can be attached to an EU declaration of conformity. Products with a radio module also need the safety articles of the RED, which we cover in the same project instead of asking for a second submission.
We normally test IEC 62368-1 together with EU 2014/35/EU (LVD): one sample set, one set of test dates, and a single report pack that the declaration of conformity can reference.
