What this standard covers and how we test it
TELEC certification is the Japanese Radio Law approval for radio equipment, shown by the technical conformity mark. Every transmitting product needs it, and the approval is band-specific: a pre-certified module can be reused only if the host design does not change the antenna, the output power or the shielding around the radio.
The technical conformity examination covers:
- Antenna power, frequency tolerance and occupied bandwidth for each band
- Spurious and out-of-band emission limits
- Channel plan for WLAN and Bluetooth, including the Japanese 5 GHz sub-bands
- Structural inspection: antenna connector, label position and the mark itself
The mark and certification number must be visible on the product. A module approval usually also requires an antenna type statement, so a change of antenna supplier should be checked before mass production rather than after.
We normally test TELEC together with Japan Radio Law: one sample set, one set of test dates, and a single report pack that the declaration of conformity can reference.
