How this pathway works in practice

A consumer electronic product entering the EU usually needs two directives, not one: electromagnetic compatibility and, wherever the product operates between 50 and 1000 volts AC, low voltage. Under EMC the emission side is EN 55032 and the immunity side EN 55035, with the harmonics and flicker standards applying to anything that draws meaningful current. Safety lands on EN 62368-1, which replaced the older 60065 and 60950-1 heritage and is now the single reference for audio, video and IT equipment. RoHS runs alongside all of it.

Three things we check before a project is scheduled:

  • Whether the product also carries a radio. That adds the Radio Equipment Directive and changes the conformity route rather than simply adding a test.
  • Whether standby and off-mode power fall under the ecodesign rules that now cover a wide range of mains-powered household equipment.
  • Whether a responsible economic operator in the EU is named on the label, which the market surveillance rules expect before the product can be offered.

Our EMC and safety campaigns share one worst-case configuration, so the emissions report, the immunity report and the safety report all describe the same build.

Each mandatory item above is mapped to a test standard inside our accredited scope, then tested on the smallest sample that still covers every variant you intend to ship, so the importer of record can hand the file straight to the European Union assessment route without a second round of questions. The 3–5 weeks lead time counts from the day production-representative samples arrive, not from the day the quotation is signed, and the 3 key documents listed above are the ones most often requested at the border or at listing review.

Accredited scope

  • CMA Hazardous substance — RoHS 10 substances XRF screening and chemical confirmation
  • CNAS EMC testing — Emission and immunity of multimedia equipment (30MHz–6GHz)

Frequently asked questions

Which substances are restricted by RoHS for electronics?

For compliant products entering the EU, Blue Asia Labs — a CNAS/CMA-accredited testing laboratory with ILAC-MRA mutual recognition — delivers end-to-end compliance: CE marking under the applicable EU directives (LVD 2014/35/EU for safety, EMC 2014/30/EU for electromagnetic compatibility, RED 2014/53/EU for wireless/RF), plus RoHS and REACH; battery products additionally fall under Regulation (EU) 2023/1542. We issue internationally recognized test reports, help prepare the technical file, and map a clear market-access path. Typical lead time is 2–4 weeks depending on scope.
