How this pathway works in practice

In Japan the Radio Law governs the radio itself and DENAN governs anything that connects to the mains, and the two are administered separately. A radio product needs technical conformity certification under the Radio Law, which is what puts the technical-mark on the label, and that mark is the first thing a Japanese distributor checks. A product powered from an AC adapter needs PSE in addition, and the adapter itself usually carries the stricter diamond mark because it is a specified product.

Points that decide whether the schedule survives:

  • The frequency band and output class determine which conformity route applies. Low-power and specified low-power categories have different procedures from ordinary certified equipment.
  • A module certified in Japan does not automatically cover a host that changes the antenna or the enclosure.
  • The label artwork must be approved before mass production, because the mark cannot be added after the mould is cut.

We prepare the Radio Law submission and the PSE filing from the same bill of materials, and we check the label artwork against both obligations before tooling is released.

Each mandatory item above is mapped to a test standard inside our accredited scope, then tested on the smallest sample that still covers every variant you intend to ship, so the importer of record can hand the file straight to the Japan assessment route without a second round of questions. The 4–6 weeks lead time counts from the day production-representative samples arrive, not from the day the quotation is signed, and the 2 key documents listed above are the ones most often requested at the border or at listing review.
